Mary Lillian Gurley, 92, of Roanoke Rapids died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Hampton Manor in Gaston.

Mary, a native of Halifax County, was the daughter of the late George Monroe and Dora Sullivan Gurley. She is also preceded in death by five brothers, Clayton Monroe Gurley, Glenn Sullivan Gurley, Joseph Byron Gurley, Robert Marshall Gurley and George Woodrow Gurley.

She was retired from J.P. Stevens as a bookkeeper. She was also a member of Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids.

She is survived by two nieces, Sandra Shell of, Glenn Allen, Va. and Margaret Gurley of Semora, NC; five nephews, Glenn Gurley, Jr. of Newport News, Va., Thomas Gurley of Rocky Mount, NC, William Gurley of Gainsville, Fl., Robert Gurley of Charleston, SC and George Gurley, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC; sister-in-law May Belle Gurley of Roanoke Rapids and special cousin Ralph Sullivan of Shelby, NC.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 29 at 2 p.m. at Rosemary Baptist Church with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in cedarwood cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
